Replacement of components on the robotic lawnmower
This guide provides general instructions and acknowledges that there may be variations between different models.
To replace electrical components, the robotic lawnmower must be opened, and the chassis separated from the top cover. The design of the mower ensures easy work and follows a step-by-step logic in the process. Take your time when replacing parts on your mower for the first time. All parts for your robotic lawnmower can be found on our website https://schou.com.
A few tips:
- Photographing each step of the process, including all involved parts, can help with reversing the steps for reassembly or when ordering spare parts.
- Do not overtighten the screws. The unit's parts are made of plastic, and the threads can easily be damaged if you use too much force or torque on your power tools
- (we recommend a screwdriver/drill set to a torque of 4).
- Be patient when releasing snap locks and clicks, and ensure that the tool you choose fits well.
- Always replace one part at a time.
While working with the machine, it is recommended to wear gloves and safety glasses.
Instructions for opening the mower
- Turn off the mower and disconnect the battery (see the manual for details on replacement).
2. Remove the robot's outer shell.
- Place the robot on a stable surface and turn it upside down to access the cable connections for the ultrasonic and light source screens.
- Remove the cover plate (8 screws) to access the cable connections, loosen them as shown in the pictures, and pull them out.
- Hold the mower near the cutting height with one hand. With the other hand, lift the floating lid from both the front and back until it pops out of its rubber holders.
- Ensure that the rubber plugs are in place before reassembling the mower cover.
3. Disassembling the cutting motor unit
- Disassemble the cutting disc and protective screen
- Turn the height adjustment lock counterclockwise and lift it up. This will allow you to exceed the cutting height of 60 mm and disconnect the floating mechanism from the cutting unit.
- Turn the height adjustment knob on top of the machine to max, until the block reaches the position in the picture.
- Release the snap locks with a large flat screwdriver to remove the cutting height unit.
- The top cover is secured to the chassis with 18 screws: 4 around the cutting height button and 14 around the top cover.
- After removing the screws, separate the top cover from the chassis. Disconnect the cable plug to remove the cover completely.
When reassembling the mower, ensure all parts are seated correctly. Check that seals are undamaged to ensure waterproofing. Incorrect assembly can shorten the mower's lifespan due to moisture damage and corrosion of electrical components.
Replacement of the cutting motor unit
After opening the robotic lawnmower and releasing the cutting motor unit, this must be disconnected from the PCB. Replace it with the new unit and reassemble.
For older versions of robotic lawnmowers that have EMC rings, please remove them and attach them to the cable on the new part.
Replacement of the wheel motor
Start by removing the rear wheel (there is a right and left rear wheel, and they have different patterns, marked with L and R - important when ordering new ones)
- First, remove the wheel cover - loosen the snap-in lock with a flat screwdriver
- Remove the nut and take the wheel off the axle
- Remove the four screws securing the wheel motor, and disconnect it from the PCB. Replace it with the new unit and reassemble (remember to check if the gasket is intact)
For older versions of robotic lawnmowers that have EMC rings, please remove them and attach them to the cable on the new part.
