There are several things that can cause the machine not to find the signal or to run beyond the boundary wire. Try checking the points below.
See our video on laying out a test track here: https://youtu.be/BTnutx7QYEM
- Boundary wire that is too close together can interfere with the signal. The wires should be at least 60 centimetres apart. This also applies to boundaries around an island.
- Poor connection in a joint of the boundary wire can occur due to moisture.
- Measure the resistance of the boundary wire, which should be a maximum of 8-10 ohms. This is done by disconnecting the boundary wire from the charging station at both ends of the wire with a multimeter.
- Too much boundary wire can also cause signal problems. (Over 250 metres.)
- Extra wire behind the charging station. (Must be cut completely tight, should not be lying in curls/bows)
- The boundary wire crosses behind the charging station.
- The charging station is incorrectly positioned – check that the charging station is positioned as shown below, the wire under the station should be in the red terminal.
- The transformer may be defective, thus no power is supplied to the installation.
- The boundary wire output on the charging station may be rusted or oxidised and cannot establish a connection.
Note! In case of error with the boundary cable signal
If the robotic lawn mower displays the message "Boundary Error" (boundary cable error) (models 17941 and 17947), or if the error indicator light flashes red (model 17940), there is an error with the boundary cable signal:
- The boundary cable is too long (over 250 m).
- The boundary cable is incorrectly joined, there is moisture in a joint, or an incorrect connector has been used.
- The boundary cable must NOT be stripped first when using the supplied connector.
- You can take the ends of the boundary cable out of the charging station and measure the resistance in the boundary cable with a multimeter. A new boundary cable has a resistance of approximately 2 ohms per 100 metres. If the resistance of the boundary cable measures more than 8-10 ohms, the robotic lawn mower will display an error with the boundary cable signal.
- You can create a test track with about 10 metres of boundary cable to check that the robotic lawn mower is functioning correctly. Remember to first take the ends from the correct boundary cable out of the charging station.
Correct the error, or replace the boundary cable.
The cable that goes under the charging station must
be connected to the red terminal marked with a “+”.
The cable that does NOT go under the charging station must
be connected to the black terminal, marked with “S1”.
Note! Excess boundary cable must not be placed behind the charging station!
