Battery and Runtime per Charge
The runtime of a robotic lawn mower depends on several different factors. These factors can vary significantly and have a direct impact on how long the mower can operate on a single charge:
- Load:
- Larger or more complex lawns with slopes or obstacles require more energy, which reduces runtime.
- Temperature:
- Extreme temperatures (very high or low) can negatively affect battery performance. Batteries operate best in moderate temperatures.
- Grass Type and Height:
- Denser or taller grass requires more power to cut, which uses more battery. Wet grass also increases the load.
- Terrain Conditions:
- Uneven terrain or many slopes require more energy, as the mower has to work harder to navigate.
- Battery Size:
- The size of the battery pack determines how much energy is available. A larger battery can provide longer runtime, while a smaller battery will have a shorter runtime.
- Battery Condition
- Please note that the battery condition will typically show 9X% (and not 100%) and that it will slowly decrease. This is completely normal and is to protect the battery and extend its lifespan (it is not optimal for the battery to be charged to 100% all the time).
The charging station will start charging the battery when it drops below 90%.
Please note that the lithium-ion batteries in our robotic lawn mowers should only be used between 5°C and 40°C.
If the mower is used outside of this temperature range, it may damage the battery and trigger a fault code from the temperature sensor.
